When I make my grandmothers recipe for apple pie, it always comes out with a bit of moisture covering the bottom crust making it very soggy and otherwise unappetizing. I can’t figure out why this happens as I drain the apples of all juice after I’m done cutting them up. Can anyone help? I was told tapioca, but I don’t really know how much to use and that seems a little strange to me. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
I’d also like to say that the crust is home-made as well, and I use about 5 large Granny Smith apples.

I live in Germany, and want to make an apple pie, but do not have access to any fillers-I guess it is the canned ingredients that you would use. Does anyone have a receipe to share that doesn´t require these canned ingredients?
