How can I configure Apple Mail to download all emails from my Gmail account even if they are not new?

I have Thunderbird on a desktop and Apple Mail on a laptop and wanna configure both to be in sync. I tried to use the recent:username, but it is not working with Apple Mail. Any ideas?Submited by:mesh2005
