I think thats probably coz u didnt sync with itunes before u jailbroke.
from what i have read on the subject. there seems to be no problems, as long as you perform a full restore on your phone before you send it in to apple

i got the extended warranty for my iphone 3gs. If i jailbreak it cant i just reset it it to factory settings and then if i need to send it in to get fixed and my warranty wont be void?

but u got to check what ur insurance covers. if software yes it will not cover if u jailbreak ur iphone but if ur insurance covers hardware and components then most likely it will not be affected.

I think no. if something goes wrong just restore the iphone. it will work again. if the screen goes blank restore it, bring it to an apple store and they will give you a new iphone
