I have a Apple powerbook computer that has had its Hard drive replaced because it crashed. The problem is that I do not have the original restore disks that came with the computer. I am considering buying the new OS X software… but does that come with the basics like imovie, iphoto, itunes, ect. and other applications? Answer If you know please.

The restore discs that came with your computer come with not only the OS, but iLife (which includes iPhoto, iMovie, iDvd, and Garage Band) as well. If you buy a retail version of the operating system, it will come with the OS only. This includes iTunes (and if anything ever happens to iTunes, it’s a free download). It also includes Mac Mail, Safari, TextEdit, and the basic operating system files. Basically, a retail disc does not come with the iLife suite (nor iWork).
